I'll admit that we haven't done the best job in updating our blog since Taylor was born, but it's busy taking care of a baby! Now that we're in Hong Kong, we'll try to do a better job as we want to share our adventures with you as well document what we do for our own memories!
Within 1 week of being told that we're moving to Hong Kong, we packed up our daily lives and moved across the world. Luckily, we had some business class flights that made the long flight more bearable. Unfortunately, at the airport we had a couple of snafus. First problem, one of our bags was so overweight that they wouldn't accept it regardless of whether or not we wanted to pay extra. Luckily, we were able to shift some items relatively easily from one bag to another instead of having to buy a box and moving stuff into that in order to check it in. Second problem, we had purchased a seat for Taylor (company was paying for it) but the business class seats would only allow a forward facing car seat. Taylor is still in an infant style seat, which only allows rear facing. After checking in Taylor's car seat, we weren't sure how much sleep we'd get on the plane.
We had never flown business class with lay flat seats, so it was a nice surprise that we were all able to get some sleep. I could sleep with Taylor when the seat was a bed without too much discomfort. The most annoying part was when we hit turbulence and I had to try and wriggle the infant seat belt under a sleeping Taylor in order for both of us to have our seat belts on. Business class was also fairly empty so even when Taylor was a bit loud, there wasn't anyone directly in front or behind us to worry about.
We arrived in Hong Kong around 6 AM. After collecting all of luggage (3 suitcases, 2 big duffel bags, 2 small suitcases, backpack, stroller, car seat, diaper bag, purse), we made our way to the W hotel in Kowloon. We were set up in a standard room that was a bit cramped for us and our stuff, but had an amazing view. Unfortunately, I never took any photos of the room because once we entered, our stuff was everywhere!
Pretty view! We miss you guys already!
